No worries.  Still not sure how I ran into this.  Actually, just found that 
apparently indexes are not rebuilt automatically if the change to indexes is 
made in slapd.conf:

http://www.openldap.org/faq/data/cache/136.html

but that seems only more confusing as then this should be easily reproducible.

One more question, unrelated to indexes, but you mentioned a migration might 
have failed because the xml files in /var/rudder/configuration-repository have 
fileFormat="2".  I can see that some of them do have fileFormat="3", but not 
all.  Is there a way to re-run this migration to update the remaining ones?
