The main purpose of those propositions is to have a clearer workflow when creating and watching directives, and to standardize the way we deal with rudder objects (rules, techniques, directives, etc.).

That proposition is just a starting point, there is a lot of blured things to make clearer.

For example, you can't save a directive if you don't have configured its parameter (else, you're going to end-up with an invalid one).

Else, there is a lot of intersting things here: having the tree-view with Techniques in the add pop-up is intersting. I'm not sur if the proposition is also to delete the tree view from the main directive screen, and I believe it would be a bad idea for now - or it suppose to have an other way of sorting Directives, like tags.

So... We need some guidance from our PO for that.

After discussing it, here are the points that will be changed :

  • header separation in place of fieldsets (#3319)
  • changing the help display style (#3320)
  • change the style of the "mandatory" fields, to make them more obvious
  • aligning the "labels" and "parameters" on a line, and not in the center.

Here are Jon's feedback :

  • there should be a way to separate fields/variables/groups by light lines, or light separations.
  • Help should be shortened by a [... more] link when it's too long.
  • Instead of tooltips, a div that is shown only on focus of the fields should be used.
  • List of items like (yes -no - don't change) should be displayed on a single line, instead of a column.
