Opposite to what it says, the CheckDit at startup only checks the entry in the ldap, and does not try to add the missing part (it throws an exception before trying to correct)

Actually, no, the baseDN is not checked, only the DIT within.
I seem to recall it's on purpose, so that if a typo appears in the configuration.properties, the application will complain rather that silently discard nodes
