The legend has invalid vertical alignement (tex is higher than the image)
The white square is also not that pretty

Update: in fact, the problem is the alignement of the parenthesis, on which is based the alignment of the square.

It is not the case: the square box has exactly the size of the texte. What might let feel the v-align is wrong is the font which has a strange parenthesis v-align. But I don't think we can (nor that we should) change anything here.

Maybe we could replace the parenthesis with a dash
