Downloads

This page collects links to download Rudder and how to install it.

For general use or a first time install, you might prefer to use the package repository, which allows for quick and efficient installation for both an agent and a server.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites for Rudder server: a physical or virtual machine with at least 1.5 GB of RAM. 2 GB is recommended. More details are available in the manual.

Prerequisites for Rudder nodes (managed machines): All you need is basic system libraries (OpenSSL, PCRE and LMDB) and a small amount of RAM (10-20 MB max), on one of the supported operating systems (see release notes). You have two options to download Rudder, each one corresponding to a different need.

Using your package manager (recommended)

This is the preferred way of installing Rudder, just follow these instructions:

Package repositories

Use these associated with the instructions above to install Rudder from your package manager, or manually download individual packages from these links. Note: Debian/Ubuntu packages for all versions are kept available under http://www.rudder-project.org/apt-repos/ and RHEL/SLES packages at http://www.rudder-project.org/rpm-repos/.
Note that each of these directories is an apt or yum repository, so you can directly put the links in your package manager’s source repos list to use a specific version.
