Nevermind, Nicolas successfully reproduced it and opened a ticket to 
track the problem: https://www.rudder-project.org/redmine/issues/11918

It appears that the inventory contains:

     <HARDWARE>
       <ARCHNAME>x86_64-linux-thread-multi</ARCHNAME>
       ...

And also:

     <OPERATINGSYSTEM>
       <ARCH>i686</ARCH>
       ...
