Hello Cédric,

Thanks for the report. It looks like a variant of http://www.rudder-project.org/redmine/issues/3621
Could you please:

1/ try to clean cashes, to see if it helps,
2/ open a bug with the content of you last, very detailed mail, so that we can track it in redmine ?

Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience...

Hello,

For example :

These two rules re-appears after the migration process but one is in ERROR state due to one group, Rules are similar (only the version number is not the same) :

[cid:image001.png at 01CF1D11.2042EC20]

When we try to « enable » and save the N/A rule we have this error message :
[cid:image002.png at 01CF1D11.2042EC20]

Groups affected by the two rules are not the same but the have been created with the same methodology : a category with many sub categories, and one or many groups under theses sub categories

Example (on server A):

[cid:image003.png at 01CF1D11.2042EC20]

Categories/sub categories label include « - » ; groups label include « _ »

After the migration, some CATEGORIES / GOUPS are ok (migration correctly done) and some are missing (that’s why we got the error).

To correct our error (example) :
- I mannually recreated « Prod-toto » category with « prod_toto » group
- then i added the group to the affected group list by the rule.
- then i saved the rule and re-enabled it.
I hope that my explanations will be clear for you.

Regards

Cedric

Hello,

Sorry about the problem, and the lag in the answer.
I am not aware of any issues with import/export, but to help us debug, could you please provide the following details:
- are there some special character in the missing group name or description ?
- do you have several groups, in different category, with the same name ?

We'll try to reproduce the issue
Sorry about the inconvenience,

Nicolas

Hello,

I only found a solution : recreate manually each missing group.

All rules / techniques seems to be here, only a lot of groups are missing and i don’t know why.

Any idea to correct that without the manual creation ?

Hello,

I still detect one issue during the migration… we got this type of message :

[2014-01-27 10:12:02] WARN com.normation.rudder.web.components.RuleGrid - Disabling rule '00_PROD - gauntlt' (ID: '230d9328-6276-4686-9447-ac3d7d66e4fd') because it refers missing objects. Go to rule's details and save, then enable it ba
ck to correct the problem.

[cid:image004.png at 01CF1D11.2042EC20]

Enable and save the rule doesn’t change anything (but we have the « success, your changes have been saved » popup).

I found that some groups have not been « re »created.

Here is the error message in the stderrout.log :

Have you already found a similar issue ? and if yes, how to quickly correct that ?

One more time : Thanks for your support ☺

Nicolas,

It seems that there was an error during the copy. Now there is something displayed (groups, rules, and directives are here) but we have an error (rules not applied)

That seems « normal » as there is no nodes linked to the new server and rudder-server-root automatically enable rules. I will check that Monday.

Have a nice w-e

Many thanks for your quick replies ☺

Hello,

I try to migrate from a 2.6.10 to a 2.6.10 rudder-server-root.

Server A (source) : CentOS release 6.3 + rudder-server-root 2.6.10 [previously this server was in 2.4 and updated in 2.6]
Server B (new one) : CentOS release 6.5 + rudder-server-root 2.6.10 [fresh install]

I used this doc => http://www.rudder-project.org/rudder-doc-2.6/rudder-doc.html#_server_migration

§10.8.2 Handle configuration files.

It seems to doesn’t work. Nothing change after a the actions mentioned (node/policy/technique/… can’t be seen).

Any idea ?

Thanks for you help.

Hello,

Just to be sure, the step you followed were to:
- copy the /var/rudder/configuration-repository from Server A to Server B (even hidden files)
- on server B, go to the web UI, in Administration/Archives, and choose "Latest git archive" in Global Archive, and click on "Restore everything"

And nothing at all happened ?
Do you happen to have some error in /var/log/rudder/webapp/2014_01_24.stderrout.log ?

Thank you,
Nicolas
