Hello Ray,
Welcome in our community and thank you for asking your question on the
mailing list.
I saw your questions on Serverfault, and tried providing an answer to
your problem but I haven't succeeded in reproducing it.
The error you have about missing fusion tools means that /curl/ was not
correctly installed on those nodes, though we appreciate that the error
message was not clear nor easy to debug. We will fix this very soon (I
opened the issue here : http://www.rudder-project.org/redmine/issues/4021)
If curl is missing, the agent should abort before trying to send an
inventory so it seems that your /curl/ is correctly installed. Thus,
this node may have problem when using /yum/ to check /curl/ installation.
So here's my idea to debug your problem:
* Go on one of your nodes that does not behave as expected
* Ensure that /curl/ is correctly installed using _/yum/_ (maybe /yum/
is missing on your node ? can't connect to repositories ?)
* Once this is done, try to force an inventory submission using :
*sudo /var/rudder/cfengine-community/bin/cf-agent -KI
-Dforce_inventory* (see
http://www.rudder-project.org/rudder-doc-2.7/rudder-doc.html#_rudder_agent_workflow
for more details about agent)
If there is still some issue with the inventory, you can run
*/var/rudder/cfengine-community/bin/cf-agent -KIv -bdoInventory
-Dforce_inventory* to get debug logs about the inventory process. (this
is very verbose, so you can output it in a file). If so, can you share
the result of this command with us ? ( There may be sensitive
information in the output, you send it to me privatly and/or anonymize
datas within)
Other ideas:
* Rudder refuse inventories from coming from unauthorized networks, so
check that your node belong to the authorized networks (see
*Administration -> policy server* in the webapp to check the networks)
* Server and nodes needs to have a working DNS environment to be able
to contact each other using their hostname. Ensure that both of them
can resolve each other hostname
If there is still a problem don't hesitate to join us on IRC or reply to
this message.
FYI I've asked our marketing guy to check why your message had not been
