<p>We are currently planning improvements for package management in
Rudder, see <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.rudder-project.org/redmine/issues/8230">http://www.rudder-project.org/redmine/issues/8230</a> for
details.</p>
<p>The currently identified issues are:<br>
</p>
<ul>
<li>Impossibility to install latest available version using ncf
generic methods</li>
<li>Impossibility to install latest available version APT package
management technique</li>
<li>Impossibility to update or install if necessary in a single
action using RPM and APT techniques</li>
<li>Package actions are generally slow due to delays in package
list/available update list update, particularly when using only
ncf</li>
</ul>
<p>We want to add the missing features to the technique and generic
methods, and make the list update behavior more configurable.<br>
</p>
<p>Do you see any other issue or inconvenience encountered when
managing packages with Rudder?<br>
