Downloading Rudder

Prerequisite for Rudder server
  • You will need OpenJDK? 7 or later or Oracle JVM 6 or later (http://www.java.com)
  • Your machine will need at least 1 GB of RAM but 2 GB is recommended
Prerequisite for Rudder nodes (managed machines)
  • All you need is basic system libraries (OpenSSL?, PCRE and BerkeleyDB?) and a small amount of RAM (10-20 MB max)
You have two options to download Rudder, each one corresponding to a different need. For general use or a first time install, you might prefer to use the package repository, which allows for quick and efficient installation for both an agent and a server.

Using your package manager (Recommended)

This is the preferred way of installing Rudder, just follow these instructions:

The latest release in all branches is always available in the repositories at these addresses:

Debian/Ubuntu packages for all versions are kept available under http://www.rudder-project.org/apt-repos/ and RHEL/SLES packages at http://www.rudder-project.org/rpm-repos/.
Note that each of these directories is an apt or yum repository, so you can directly put the links in your package manager's source repos list to use a specific version.
